How to Handle Your Anger, Theo Style

1. Understand Where Your Anger is Coming From

When Theo’s best friend moved away, he began feeling super mad and didn't know why. The first step in handling your anger is figuring out what's making you feel this way. Is it because something didn’t go your way, or is it because you’re feeling lonely? Knowing why you're angry can help you deal with it better.

2. Talk About Your Feelings

Keeping everything inside will only make things worse. Theo’s mom sat him down, and they talked about what was bothering him. If you’re feeling mad, talk to someone you trust – it could be your mom, dad, a teacher, or even a friend. Letting it out can make you feel much better.

3. Use Cool Down Tricks

Theo’s mom gave him some super tips to help him cool down when he was angry. You can try:

  • Squeezing a stress ball: Just like Theo, squeezing something soft can help release your anger.
  • Counting to ten: Slowly counting to ten gives you time to calm down and think about your actions.
  • Drawing or writing: Sometimes putting your feelings on paper helps you understand them better.

4. Find Positive Outlets

Theo loved drawing, and he found it helped him express his feelings without hurting others. Find something you love, whether it’s drawing, playing a sport, or listening to music. These activities can help you chill out.

5. Stay Connected with Friends

Theo felt a lot better when he got a letter from Chris. Even if your friends move away, try to stay in touch. Write letters, video call, or send text messages. Knowing that someone cares can help you feel less lonely and angry.

6. Help Others

Theo not only started handling his anger better, but he also began helping his friends deal with their anger too. You can do the same! When you help others, it feels great, and it can also help you learn more about managing your own feelings.

The Big Lesson

Anger is normal, but it’s important to deal with it in a positive way. Theo’s story teaches us that taking our anger out on others is not cool. Instead, use the tips to handle your anger and help others do the same. Remember, it’s all about turning those angry flames into a force for good.
